Velichie under an insubstantial smear campaign

Based on a comment from a neutral third-party observer.

In recent months, a narrative has been purposefully constructed around the Velichie party that has nothing to do with politics, ideas, or real actions, but relies solely on suggestions and petty attacks. At first, there was a loud comment on the departure of the chairman of the parliamentary group, Nikolay Markov. Then came the exit of a party member, Emil Rusanov. Now, the focus has shifted to journalist Pelo Krastev, who worked with the party.

It is expected that the hygienist who takes care of the party’s parliamentary group room will soon publicly distance herself from it, and this will be turned into national news.

Today, absurd suggestions and ironic insinuations are being made that almost everyone who was in any way connected to Velichie is either a traitor or must publicly “distance themselves” to instil an image of decay and failure. Thus, political debate is being replaced with a gossipy chronicle, and opponents demonstrate not strength, but a lack of arguments.

The obvious goal is to strike at the party by discouraging its supporters. It is a strategy that relies on repetition and noise, not substance. However, history shows that such attacks do not always lead to the intended result. Sometimes they simply reveal the opponents' fear that they are facing a formation that cannot be defeated with ideas, and therefore they attack with suggestions.

When a party is attacked not because of what it does, but because of who has left it, this is a clear sign that the problem is not with it, but with those who are afraid of the change it brings.
