"Greatness" declares against pedophilia and governmental indifference to crimes against children.

The case was discussed in a half-empty hall.

In a statement on behalf of the "Greatness" (Velichie) parliamentary group, Chairman Ivelin Mihaylov strongly condemned the recent cases of sexual abuse and the distribution of child pornography revealed in Bulgaria. He described the arrest of five individuals accused of creating and distributing pornographic materials involving children, including a two-month-old baby, as a horrifying signal of a deep, systemic, and neglected problem in the country.

However, the declaration was ignored by prominent figures from other parliamentary groups, highlighting their stance toward the true opposition in the National Assembly. As soon as Ivelin Mihaylov took the podium, Boyko Borisov, Raya Nazaryan, and Kostadin Angelov from GERB-SDF conspicuously left the hall. Unfortunately, the widespread issue of paedophilia did not seem significant enough for other members of parliament, as the chamber was half-empty.

“It’s not just a scandal—it cuts through our hearts like a knife. This is an evil that feeds on children’s pain. Photos of innocence have turned into commodities, and videos are sold on the dark web. These five are not just criminals; they are a symptom of a collapsed state,” Mihaylov stated.

He emphasized that this case is not isolated but is part of a well-organized criminal network operating in the shadows of the internet, targeting the most vulnerable—children.

“Information is being suppressed. Scandalous facts are mentioned only incidentally at the end of the news, and this poses a direct threat to the future of our society. We feel sorry for the children of Bulgaria—for the innocent souls growing up in a world that does not protect them,” he added.

Mihaylov accused the political class of indifference and self-interest while “the children of Bulgaria suffer.” He remarked that society remains silent—either out of fear or apathy—and that evil feels emboldened and unpunished.

"How long will we allow evil to hide in the shadows? What is a child’s childhood worth? How heavy are the tears of a young being who may never smile again?" the MP asked emotionally, concluding that if the state and society do not protect children, then we have neither a state nor a society.
