The troubling situation regarding the contamination of the Gerila River, which flows through, will soon be brought to light. This revelation was emphasized by Ivelin Mihaylov in an influential video on his YouTube channel, where he meticulously detailed the timeline of events surrounding the polluted waters and the alarming fact of illegal waste dumps.

This issue first gained momentum when a distressing viVarbitsadeo surfaced on Facebook, showing pipes discharging into the Gerila River's bed. In an attempt to alleviate concerns, the mayor of Varbitsa claimed on social media that the pipes were merely carrying rainwater, not sewage, and insisted that inspections conducted by various institutions along the three-kilometer stretch of river supported this claim. Nevertheless, Mihaylov challenged this story by presenting multiple recordings from the surroundings that raised considerable questions about the mayor's claims concerning the cleanliness of the river.He revealed that water samples from the Gerila River have been collected for rigorous analysis in laboratories across Europe, aiming to unveil the truth behind the misleading reports published by the involved institutions.

Mihaylov strongly highlighted the ongoing destruction of nature and the insidious feudalization enabled by illegal landfills. He warned that the river's contamination, which ultimately impacts the Ticha drinking water reservoir, is not just an environmental issue—it poses a direct threat to the health of the communities in Veliki Preslav, Targovishte, and Shumen, leading to severe health crises.
