Facing Threats and Repressions: What Happens When You Break Away from GERB?

A story from a first-person

Delyan Peevski isn’t the only individual involved in vote-buying in Bulgaria, according to Dragomir Dimitrov in an interview with Svoboden glas. A former party member of Political party “GERB”, his connection with the party began in 2014 when he joined the local structure in Shumen.

He later returned to his hometown Silistra and focused on his career.

In 2020, after losing his job due to Covid-19, he returned to engage in party activities. From late 2020 until early 2023, he initially worked as a driver for GERB's regional coordinator, Todor Todorov, and then became the public relations representative for the local structure. He believes one issue driving people away from politics is the practice of appointing individuals to positions to serve someone else's interests rather than fulfilling essential responsibilities.

In recent years, he has been involved in defamation lawsuits, faced threats to his life from a repeat offender, and on January 27, 2024, his family vehicle was set on fire, with the perpetrator remaining unpunished.
