The MP from “Velichie”, Stela Bobcheva, made a categorical statement in the plenary hall before the vote for deputy ombudsman, directed against the candidacy of Maria Filipova.

“I will also be brief. In the committee, I asked Mrs. Filipova the question whether she is ready to give up her position as caretaker prime minister, if she is eventually proposed for such. But she did not give a positive answer. I asked other questions as well, which interested me, of the nature of the position of deputy ombudsman and its activity, but also did not receive proper and suitable answers for me,” Bobcheva said.

She emphasised that “Velichie” will not support the candidacy of Mrs. Filipova, not because of her personal qualities, but because of the people who indirectly stand behind her.

“Even if here is the purest, most wonderful, most incredible person, we will also vote against, because behind the scenes sneaks the shadow of people who are corrupt, unscrupulous and use the weaknesses, dependencies and fears of people to keep them in the role of a club and to crush the others. And when a person, the purest, the most bathed, enters a stinking room, even without wanting, they also begin to smell. Unfortunately, Mrs. Maria Filipova has been standing for a very long time in such a room, and even if she has wonderful intentions, we do not have trust in them,” the MP also said.

Bobcheva drew attention to the fact that “evil does not always fall upon the guilty, but surely remains a stain” and emphasised that the presumption of innocence drops out when a person has been connected for a long time with dubious circles.

In conclusion, she wished Filipova to stand firm when subjected to pressure and to defend the rights of citizens.
