As it turns out, the property of the wife of Prime Minister Rosen Zhelyazkov has a real value of over 20 million euros. In the documents, it is stated that the building costs many times less, but reality clearly shows otherwise.

It is surprising how politicians who have been in politics their whole lives can acquire such capital. Even more scandalous is that from the luxury hotel connected to the family of the Prime Minister, water flows around the clock, while in Pleven, people cannot even flush the water in the toilet.

This is not a problem only of the people of Pleven. Half of Bulgaria suffers from a lack of elementary access to drinking water. For the ordinary person, every drop is life, while for those in power, every drop is part of a demonstration of luxury.

The story painfully reminds us of the times of the Great French Revolution, when hunger crushed the people, and Queen Marie Antoinette allegedly mockingly said, “If they have no bread, let them eat cake.” Today Bulgarians see the same. Instead of compassion and solutions, Prime Minister Rosen Zhelyazkov and his family demonstrate boundless extravagance.

While people struggle for a sip of water, those in power bathe in luxury.

The question is, how much longer will the Bulgarian people endure?
